My Service in Asia - Japan

Robby and Sgt. Hockman
I went to Tokyo to meet Sgt. Hockman. He kindly met me at Ebasu Camp, an ex-naval base and he took me to see the town.

The Ginza in Tokyo
First he took me to the Ginza which is central in the city of Tokyo.

CMMFE HQ

Then Sgt. Hockman pointed out the location on "A" Street of CMMFE HQ. located in the Dai Ichi building and the proximity it is to his building I marked with an "X".

Robby and Bill

Here I am with our driver Bill something. (sorry) Bill!

The Hotel Teito on A Street - Tokyo

Behind the trees on the upper left is Hotel Teito so I am told the significance if which I am not sure. However I believe a new Hotel Prince is located somewhere in that vicinity. This is "A"; Street also.

A view of the Imperial Palace across the moat.

South East corner of the Imperial moat.

Hiroshima

The black and white photos below were taken in 1951 during the occupation of Japan following WWII.

These colour photos were taken roughly 50 years later by a Japanese friend, Mr. Hiroshi Mizuhara. He tried to duplicate the exact spots from which I took the post war pictures of the observatory. He seems to have done a fantastic job!
