Getting Around

First Class transportation for the lads.First Class transportation for the lads.

A view of how we were crowded onto the tanks of No. 1 and 3 Squadron of the 4th Battalion Grenadier Guards, 6th Guards Tank Brigade.

First Class transportation for the lads.We started doing this beginning around the 30th of March from Graven, Germany onward. The noise was deafening from the huge Rolls engines and the only way we knew we were being fired at was when men began to fall off.

First Class transportation for the lads.Another view taken from under the barrel of the following tank by the driver.  The tank commander would halt the tank and off we'd go, eliminate the opposition and back on the tanks once again until the next incident. Quite nerve racking but effective with the results we achieved.
